Abstract
Background: Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a lifelong disease in which the body can not use insulin properly. Foot ulcersis a problem caused by DM. Diabetic foot gymnasticis one of the preventions of DM complications. Objective: To describe nursing care of fulfilling activity and exercise need to the family of Mrs. T with DM, in Kemukus Village, Gombong District. Nursing care: The results of the assessment data obtained blood pressure (BP): 100/70 mmHg, pulse: 80 bpm, respiration rate (RR): 21tpm, temperature: 36˚C, numband stiffhands and feet. Nursing diagnosis was sedentary lifestyle. Interventions and implementations were examining physical exercise and the experience of the previous exercise, giving gymnastics counseling diabetic foot, demonstrating gymnastic movements, motivating client to continue the exercise program, an evaluating the exercise performed, giving reinforcement to the client after exercise. The evaluation showed that the client understood about legs’gymnastics, the benefits and its movement. The client followed exercisevery well therefore the sedentary lifestyle problem has been resolved. Conclusion: Diabetic foot gymnastics may provide increased activity and exercise of DM client.
