Abstract
Background, Technological advances in the telecommunications sector at this time have grown rapidly and are changing very quickly, including gadgets. However, this development is not entirely profitable. The wrong parenting pattern makes preschool or school age children addicted to playing gadgets. Objective, This study aims to determine the relationship between parenting patterns and the level of gadget addiction in preschool-aged children at PGRI Mustika Budi Kindergarten, Karanggede village, Kebumen district. Methods, This research is a non-experimental research using correlational analytical research design using a quantitative approach. The sample is 44 respondents. The data analysis technique used the percentage technique. The instrument used a demographic data questionnaire, a parenting style questionnaire, and a gadget dependence level questionnaire. Result, There are 16 respondents who are not dependent on gadgets (61.5%), the level of light dependence is 9 respondents (34.6%), the level of moderate dependence is 1 respondent (3.8). Conclusion, There is a significant relationship between parenting patterns and the level of gadget addiction in pre-school age children at Pgri Mustika Budi Kindergarten, Karanggede Village, Kebumen Regency with p-value = 0.001 < = 0.05. The value of closeness between variables is 0.497 which is categorized as moderate. Recommendation, Further researchers can examine the application of parenting patterns to children who are addicted to gadgets.
