Abstract

Background: The first step that must be conducted by hospitals to improve service quality related to patient safety is the implementation of a patient safety culture. The main role of the nurse unit manager is to support the success of patient safety culture programs. Purpose: To determine the relationship between the role of the nurse unit manager function and patient safety culture in PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong Hospital. Method: This study was a quantitative research design with a cross-sectional approach. The study was conducted in the inpatient room of PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong Hospital and a total of 62 nurses (total sampling) joined this study. The collecting data used a checklist questionnaire and then analyzed both variables using the Kendall Tau test. Result: The results showed that there was a significant relationship between the role of the nurse unit manager function and patient safety culture, especially in the 3rd classroom which has good levels in planning, organizing, staffing, directing, and controlling with a p-value of 0.000 (<0.05). Recommendation: Further research can focus on patient safety culture with larger respondents and use a different research method.
