Abstract

Background: ISPA is currently still a health problem that is of concern to the world. The prevalence of ARI in Indonesia in 2018 was reported as 4.4%. Attempts to overcome a blocked airway administering medication by inhalation, using steam or a nebulizer. Inhalation therapy is more effective when combined with chest physiotherapy techniques. Objective: To analyze the effect of inhalation nebulizer combination of chest physiotherapy on respiratory rate, breath sounds and oxygen saturation in children with ARI at Prembun Hospital. Methods: his study uses a pre-experimental design method with a one-group pretest-posttest design. 86 children with consecutive sampling technique. A sample of 86 ISPA children with consecutive sampling technique. Results: Before the intervention was given, the average respondent experienced an increase in respiratory rate of 40 x/minute with an average of additional breath sounds, both crackles and wheezing, and the average oxygen saturation of the respondents was mostly 95.76. While the respiratory frequency after being given inhalation of nebulizer combination chest physiotherapy decreased on average to 30 x/minute, the average additional breath sounds decreased and the average saturation decreased to 97.92%. Conclusion: This study is recommended for patients and families to apply a combination of nebulizer inhalation combined with chest physiotherapy to overcome the problem of increased respiratory frequency, additional breath sounds and decreased oxygen saturation in children with ISPA. Recommendations: This study is recommended for patients and families to apply the combined action of nebulizer inhalation combined with chest physiotherapy to overcome the problem of increased respiratory frequency, additional breath sounds and decreased oxygen saturation in children with ISPA.
