Abstract

Background, injury or accident events can occur anytime and anywhere, especially in the school environment. sports and recreation-related injuries occur in more than 2.6 million schoolchildren worldwide per year. The knowledge and attitude of the helper at the location of the incident also affects the speed when performing First Aid. PMR is a container that has been provided by the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) as the first container in the event of an accident in a school both outside and inside before the victim is taken to the nearest health facility. Research Objectives, This study aims to determine the effect of first aid education on the level of knowledge of PMR members at SMA N 1 Pejagoan Research Methods, The design used in this study is quantitative using quantitative research design with quasi-experiments: one group pretest post test design without control group. The sample collection technique used a total sampling with a total sample of 62 PMR members with 57 women and 5 men. The analysis in this study used the Wilcoxon Test. The results, of the study showed that there were differences in the level of knowledge of first aid before and after education about first aid. The results of the analysis on the Wilcoxon test obtained the result of p-value = 0.00 (p<0.05) Conclusion, In this study, the results of the Wilcoxon test were obtained p-value = 0.00 (p<0.05) so that it can be concluded that there is an influence of first aid education on the level of knowledge of PMR members at SMA N 1 Pejagoan. Recommendations, For subsequent researchers are expected to be able to conduct research with other methods or other variables such as attitudes or training.
