Abstract

Background: Intensive nursing services aim to provide care for patients with severe illnesses and require continuous observation or close supervision, to find out any changes in the condition of patients who need immediate intervention. This condition requires a professional nurse who has competence in the field of certified intensive care. The steadfastness and speed in providing nursing care often causes pressure and stress on nurses, so it will affect the quality in providing optimal service, one of which is caring nurses to patients. Objective: This study was conducted to determine the relationship between stress and the quality of nurses' work with the caring behavior of nurses in the intensive room of Soedirman Kebumen Hospital Method: This study uses a correlative descriptive research design with a Cross-Sectional approach. The sampling technique used was total sampling, so that the number of samples in this study was 51 people. Results: Based on the research that has been carried out, a univariate analysis of the quality of nurses' work shows that the most values are in the good category with a total of 46 respondents (90.2%), caring behavior of nurses gets the result that the majority of nurses in the good category are 41 people (80.4%) and this bivariate analysis obtained a correlation coefficient of 0.296 which means there is a relationship between the level of work stress and the behavior of caring nurses with a p value value = 0.035 (<0.05) and a correlation coefficient of 0.335 which means that there is an equal relationship between work quality and nurse caring behavior with a p value = 0.016 (<0.05). Conclusion: The results of the statistical test stated that there was a relationship between stress and the quality of the nurse's work with the caring behavior of the nurse in the intensive room of Soedirman Kebumen Hospital Recommendation: Furthermore, researchers are expected to be able to conduct research using other methods to find out the effective coping strategies used by nurses.
