Abstract

Background: Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS) is a progressive coronary heart disease and in the course of the disease, there is often a sudden change from a stable state to an unstable or acute state. One of the complaints experienced by ACS patients is pain. One way to deal with this is to use lavender aromatherapy. Objective: To determine the effect of lavender aromatherapy in reducing pain in ACS patients at the ICU roomof RSUD dr. Tjitrowardojo Purworejo hospital. Methods: This research is a quasi-experimental quantitative research using a pretest-posttest with control group design. The number of samples was 32 people consisting of 16 case groups and 16 control groups. Pain was obtained using the Numeric Rating Scale instrument. Data were analyzed using a different test (t test). Results: Hypothesis testing showed that there was an effect of giving lavender aromatherapy on the pain scale of patients with ACS at the ICU room. This is evidenced by the decrease in pain levels in the experimental group 2.62 higher than the control group 0.94. Conclusion: there is an effect of giving lavender aromatherapy on the patient's pain scale Recommendation: Application of lavender aromatherapy can be done to reduce pain in ACS patients.
