Abstract

Background of the Study: Family perception is the attitude of the family and society who think that if a family member suffered from a mental disorder, it is a disgrace for his family members (Hawari, 2015). Objectives of the Study: To determine the family's perception of mental disorder at Alian Community Health Center. Research Methods: This study used a descriptive research method with the main objective being to describe a situation objectively using a quantitative approach. Sampling in this study is using the formula of purpose sampling with the results of as many as 97 respondents. Time in doing this research for one month in July, the research instrument used a questionnaire sheet to determine the perception of the mental disorder family. Data analysis used univariate to explain or describe the characteristics of the variables studied, especially in the form of frequency distribution and percentage. Results of the Study: Shows the results of the frequency distribution of families with an average age of 26-45 as many as 46 (58.8%), male gender is more than female as many as 56 (57.7%), education out of school 37 (37.1%), wife's family status 36 (30.9%), Very poor perception 7 (7.2%) not good 10 (10.3%) good 50 (52.5%) very good 30 (30.9%). It can be concluded that the average family perception of mental disorders is good with a total of 50 (52.5%) respondents. Conclusion: There are a number of results of the average value of family perceptions in the good category of 50 respondents (52.5%) more than the very bad perception of 7 respondents (7.2%) at the Alian Health Center, especially in Jatimulyo Village. Recommendation: It is hoped that further research will be able to increase good family perceptions with new research methods for people with ODGJ
