Abstract

Background: A strong nutritional intake is very important to stimulate brain growth, one of which is the provision of MP-ASI. Sources of information that the mother obtains can affect the mother's knowledge and behavior in giving complementary feeding. Objectives: The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship of information sources with mother’s knowledge and behavior in giving complementary feeding to infants at Ambal Community Health Center 2. Methods: The kind of research was used in the study the correlation with the approach of cross sectional. Data collection using questionnaires. The sample of this study was mothers who had children aged 6-12 months at the Ambal Community Health Center 2 as many as 82 respondents, taken using cluster random sampling technique. Data analysis, using chi-square correlation test. Results: Most of the mothers at the Ambal Community Health Center 2had an age of 21-30 years as many as 52 respondents (63.4%).The age of the baby is at most 12 months of age (36.6%).The majority of mothers' education levels were high school as many as 49 respondents (59.8%).The majority of mothers' jobs as housewives were 70 respondents (85.4%).The source of information about MP-ASI is mostly from the KIA Book as many as 42 respondents (51.2%).Maternal knowledge and behavior in giving complementary food are included in the good category of 44 respondents (53.7%) and 46 respondents (56.1%). Conclusion: There is a relationship between the source of information and the mother's knowledge in giving complementary food to babies at the Ambal Community Health Center 2with a value of p = 0.039<0.05.There is no relationship between the source of information and the mother's behavior in giving complementary food to babies at the Ambal Community Health Center 2with a value of p = 0.457>0.05.
