Abstract

Background, Chronic renal failure (CKD) is damage to kidney function in maintaining metabolism and electrolytes due to progressive destruction of kidney structures with manifestations of metabolic waste that accumulates in the blood. Various characteristics in patients with kidney failure such as age, gender, hemoglobin, urea, creatinine and others need to be further investigated in this study. Objective, the study was to describe the characteristics of chronic kidney failure patients in the hemodialysis room at PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong Hospital. Methods, This research is a non-experimental research using a descriptive analytical research design using a quantitative approach. The sample is 126 respondents. The data analysis technique used descriptive technique. The instrument uses a demographic data questionnaire. Result, Most of them were >40 years old as many as 106 patients (84.14), the same sex between men and women, most of them had primary education as many as 57 patients (42.5%), the frequency of hemodialysis was 2x/week, most of the complaints during HD were weakness in 63 patients (50%), most comorbid hypertension (85.7%), IDWG in the range 0-6, hb levels mostly <10, total urea levels >39 and total urea levels >1.5. Conclusion, The most dominant characteristics in patients with chronic renal failure are HB levels, urea levels and creatinine levels. Recommendation, Further researchers can examine the relationship between patients with chronic kidney failure and hemoglobin levels.
