Abstract

Background: Patient safety is not only a global issue but also a national one, including in the realm of Indonesian hospitals. In Indonesia, there are still several incidents of patient safety violations committed by nurses, as many as 28.3%, including incidents in the operating room. Based on this high incidence, which is not expected as a result of surgery, WHO has launched a Surgical Safety Checklist (SSC) as a tool used by medical personnel in operating rooms, to reduce deaths and complications due to surgery. But in reality, the operating room team's non-compliance in carrying out their duties in carrying out the surgical safety checklist procedure is still relatively low. Objective: To find out the description of nurses' compliance in the implementation of the surgical safety checklist in the IBS room of the Palang Biru Kutoarjo Hospital and the IBS Room of Prembun Hospital, Kebumen. Methods: This type of research uses descriptive research. A sample of 10 nurses at the Palang Biru Kutoarjo Hospital and 17 nurses in the IBS Room of Prembun Hospital with a total of 27 people were taken with a total sampling technique. Results: Most nurses understand about SSC and SSC is used at the time of surgery as many as 27 people (100%). However, there are still (77.8%) respondents who do not realize the importance of SSC in surgery. Conclusion: he level of nurse compliance in the implementation of the surgical safety checklist was the majority with a sufficient category of 25 people (92.6%). Recommendations for further researchers: Expanding the research theme towards the factors that cause nurse compliance in carrying out the surgical safety checklist.
