Abstract

Background: Breast cancer is one of the diseases that damage parts of the body in women. In addition, cancer treatment does not only have an impact on physiological conditions but can also have a negative impact on psychology, including anxiety, depression and stress, sexuality and impaired self-concept: low self-esteem.Objectives: To analyze the nursing care process for Ca Mammae patients with situational low self-esteem nursing problems with the Callista Roy adaptation theory approach in the Wijaya Kusuma room, Prof. Dr. Margono Soekardjo Hospital, Purwokerto Methods: This paper uses a descriptive method with a case study approach. The case study instrument uses a nursing documentation format, observation sheets for situational low self-esteem symptoms, and SOPs for implementing positive ability strategies. Actions taken to increase patient self-esteem are carried out for 4 meetings with 15-30 minutes each meeting. Result: The results of the case study show that there is a decrease in the symptoms of situational low self-esteem and an increase in positive abilities before and after implementing the strategy implementation. The results of the nursing evaluation in the five patients showed a decrease in symptoms of low self-esteem with an average of (83%) from the beginning (100%) showing signs of symptoms. The five patients who initially showed symptoms such as shame, negative selfassessment and worthlessness did not show these symptoms at the end of care. The results of the SP1 action innovation in situational low self-esteem patients showed an increase in positive ability. Patients I, III, and V experienced the most significant improvement from (90%) at the beginning of the assessment where the patient was able to assess, mention, criticize and perform positive abilities, at the end it increased to (100%), where the patient was able to do positive self-talk independentlyRecommendation: Positive ability training is effective to explore the abilities or positive aspects of each individual so that it can increase self-esteem of patients with chronic conditions such as Ca Mammae
