Abstract
Background: The prevalence of diabetic foot injury sufferers in Indonesia is increasing every year. It is estimated that in 2021 diabetic ulcer sufferers will reach 21.4 million people. To be able to recover, the patient requires a long treatment. Non-pharmacological therapy that can be done to repair tissue damage is by treating wounds combined with olive oil (extra virgin olive oil). Objective: To analyse nursing care of application of wound care using olive oil to diabetic ulcer patients with tissue integrity disorders. Method: This study uses a case study method. The subjects of this study were five diabetic patients with diabetic ulcers according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Results: The main nursing diagnosis is tissue integrity disorders related to peripheral neuropathy. Intervention (SLKI) Skin and tissue integrity: Tissue damage decreases, pain decreases, abnormal pigmentation decreases, scarring decreases, necrosis decreases, and tissue perfusion improves. (SIKI): Wound treatment by Monitor wound characteristics (e.g., drainage, color, size, odor), open the plaster slowly, clean it with NaCl liquid or nontoxic cleaner, clean necrotic tissue, apply olive oil to the wound, and change the dressing according to the amount of exudate and drainage, recommend pouring sugar levels. The implementation carried out on the five patients is to carry out wound treatment with olive oil innovation, in accordance with the SOP for 15-20 minutes within a period of 3 consecutive days. The results of the evaluation of the five patients who were treated with wounds using olive oil experienced improvements in tissue integrity. Conclusion: There is significant effect of providing wound care innovations using olive oil (extra virgin olive oil) on tissue integrity in diabetic ulcer patients. Recommendation: Wound treatment using olive oil can be applied to improve tissue integrity in diabetic ulcer patients.
