Abstract

Background : Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a disease characterized by inflammation of the joints, which affects body movement due to inflammation in the joints, causing pain and is characterized by stiffness and swelling in joints such as muscles, ligaments, and tendons. One of the non-pharmacological measures to reduce rheumatoid arthritis pain is lemongrass and cinnamon compresses Objective: To explain nursing care for the elderly with pain as the main nursing problem in Karangpucung Tambak Village, Banyumas Regency. Nursing Care Results: The results of studies conducted on rheumatoid arthritis patients obtained data on the main complaints, namely pain, swelling, redness and pain in the joints. The priority nursing diagnosis is chronic pain associated with a physiological injuring agent. The nursing intervention carried out was pain management with lemongrass and cinnamon compresses. The nursing implementation was carried out for 7 days, namely pain management: teaching nonpharmacological techniques (citronella and cinnamon compresses), comprehensively assessing pain including (location, characteristics, duration, frequency), monitoring pain levels and monitoring TTV. Conclusion: Giving lemongrass and cinnamon compresses can reduce the pain scale in rheumatoid arthritis patients in the elderly Recommendation: It is hoped that lemongrass and cinnamon compresses can be used as SOPs for non-pharmacological management of chronic pain in rheumatoid arthritis cases
