Abstract

Background: Self-esteem is one of the risk factors for psychosocial problems in the elderly. One method that can help the elderly to complete self-esteem by doing horticultural therapy (gardening). Objective : To describe the results of nursing care application of horticultural therapy to the elderly with chronic low self-esteem in Babadsari, Kutowinangun. Methods: This paper uses a descriptive method with a case study approach. The case study instrument used a nursing documentation format, an observation sheet for recording chronic low self-esteem and horticultural therapy SOPs. Nursing implementation was carried out 3 times and each session was 15-30 minutes long. The data were analyzed descriptively on nursing care. Results: The results of the assessment carried out on the elderly obtained data that the main complaint felt was low self-esteem. Priority nursing diagnosis in elderly patients is low self-esteem. The nursing intervention carried out is the promotion of self-esteem with innovative horticultural therapy actions. The nursing implementation is self-esteem promotion: determine the patient's confidence according to the patient's assessment. Support patients to identify their strengths. Strengthen the self-strength that the patient finds in him. Support the patient's eye contact when communicating with others. Prevent the patient from thinking negatively. Make positive statements about the patient. Do horticultural therapy. The results of the nursing evaluation in the elderly showed a decrease in signs of low self-esteem. Innovation of horticultural therapy action is effective in reducing signs of low self-esteem symptoms. Recommendation: Providing effective horticultural therapy treatment to be implemented in nursing care for the elderly with chronic low self-esteem
