Abstract
Background: The health of the elderly is the most important thing in an effort to improve the health status of the elderly. The aging process is experienced by humans naturally since they were born. Body function reaches its peak at the age of 20-30 years. The elderly will experience decreased function in the neurological, sensory and musculoskeletal systems. Changes that occur in the neurological system in the brain will affect the stability of the body such as motor nerves which can lead to changes in reflexes. Objective: The general purpose of writing this scientific paper is to describe nursing care with tandem walking exercise with balance exercise to overcome the risk of falling in the elderly. Results: The results of the nursing evaluation on the five patients showed that there was a decrease in the level of risk of falling as evidenced by changes in the risk score for falling between before and after being given therapy for 8 meetings. The five patients experienced a decrease in the risk score for falling, although not significant. Conclusion: Administration of tandem walking exercise therapy with balance exercise can reduce the risk of falls in elderly patients. Recommendation: Administration of tandem walking exercise therapy with balance exercise can reduce the risk of falls in elderly patients.
