Abstract

Background: The success of pulmonary TB treatment is largely determined by the regularity of taking anti-tuberculosis drugs. This can be achieved by having regular Swallowing Drug Supervisors. One of the factors that can influence patients to treat TB is the role of the family as PMO. Objective: To determine the role of the Drug Swallowing Supervisor (PMO) in TB patients in the family at the Kutowinangun Health Center. Methods: The research method is descriptive with a survey approach. The population in this study were 41 patients. The research sample was 41 patients who were taken by total sampling. The tool in this research is a questionnaire. Data were analyzed descriptively. Result: the patient felt that the role of the Drug Swallowing Supervisor (PMO) in the family of TB patients was in the very supportive category (65.9%). The patient felt that the role of the Drug Swallowing Supervisor (PMO) in the family of TB patients in supervising the patient swallowing the drug was in the very supportive category (43.9%). The patient feels that the role of the Drug Swallowing Supervisor (PMO) in the family of TB patients is to encourage patients to seek treatment regularly by providing motivational sentences in the very supportive category (85.4%). Patients feel the role of the Swallowing Drug Supervisor (PMO) in the family of TB patients in reminding the patient to check sputum again (68.3%). The patient feels the role of the Drug Swallowing Supervisor (PMO) in the family of TB patients in referring the patient if the side effects are getting worse and recommends examination in the very supportive category (75.6%) Recommendation: it is hoped that further researchers can examine in depth the role of the family towards HIV positive pulmonary TB patients and MDR TB patients
