Abstract
Background : The traffic police are officers whose job is to maintain the safety of road users and minimize traffic accident victims. Basic Life Support (BHD) skills are very important for every member of the police force to know to carry out the tasks assigned to traffic police officers, ranging from knowledge of BHD to the ability to assist accident victims who experience cardiac arrest and respiratory arrest. Each member of the Gombong Sector Police and the Gombong District Traffic Police received knowledge and training about BHD when they were still members of the police and an evaluation was carried out by the Central Java Regional Police every 2-3 months alternately by each police member but it was still lacking. by members of the Sector Police and Traffic Police in providing training on BHD. The Sector Police and Traffic Police have also been equipped with first aid kits in their patrol cars, but they are rarely used to help victims of traffic accidents. Objective : Knowing the relationship between knowledge of Basic Life Support and assisting victims of traffic accidents in the Gombong Sector Police. Methods : This study uses a descriptive correlation method with a cross-sectional approach. The sample in this research is 25 members of the Sector Police and the Traffic Police. Samples were taken by total sampling. Data analysis using descriptive analysis and bivariate analysis using a chi-square statistical test. Result : Based on the research conducted, it was found that the majority of respondents in the Gombong Police Sector with basic life support knowledge were categorized as good (40%). Some respondents in the Gombong Police Sector are proassistingctwiths of traffic accidents in the good category (60%). There is a relationship between knowledge of Basic Life Support and providing assistaassistingic accidents in the Sector Police (p=0,008).
