Abstract

Background: Acute respiratory infections (ARI) are one of the health problems that occur in hospital services and most often occur in children. The high prevalence of ARI disease and its effects lead to high consumption of antibiotics. Children need to be evaluated. Objectives: Find out the accuracy of the use of antibiotics to treatments of infection diseases acute respiratory of childrena. Methodology: The research is the kind of research non-experimental descriptive, that is done with the collection of data on medical record patient’s ARI children in retrospective. Data analysis used diagrams a groove a method of gyssens. Result: Based on the quality assessment of the use of antibiotics using the Gyssens method, the results showed that there were antibiotics prescribed in category IIA (incorrect dose) by 44%, and category IIIB (too short administration) by 56%. Conclusion: A study of the quality of antibiotic use at the Purbowangi Hospital for the period 2019 to 2020 using the Gyssens method from 40 pediatric patients with ARI showed that there were antibiotic prescriptions that were included in category IIA (incorrect dose) of 42% and category IIIB (too much administration). short) by 58%. Recommendation: It is necessary to conduct quantitative research on ARI patients at Purbowangi Hospital and at different periods.
