Abstract

Performance appraisal is needed to measure employee performance in organization. CV. Rasyid is a company that produces various types of cloth. It needs an objective performance appraisal system that matches to its production process so that the work atmosphere becomes conducive. Key Performance Indicators (KPI) are tools used to assess performance based on each activities and operations. This study described the application of KPIs to design performance assessment instruments in that company. The research began with the identification of work stations and the quality standards of each station. There were seven work stations: design, fabric cutting, sewing, embroidering, embroidery, screen printing, ironing, and packing. The assessment indicators were designed based on the Key Performance Indicators at each work station. That were indicator for drawing patterns on paper, cutting pattern paper, making screen printing designs, measuring fabrics, cutting fabrics, sewing clothes, making buttonholes, attaching buttons, attaching zippers, sewing clothes, embroidering clothes, making screen printing cliches, mixing screen printing inks, screen printing, ironing, folding clothes and packing. These indicators were compiled into an assessment instrument and validated using the chi square test. It showed the design of the performance appraisal instrument is specific and clear, describing something that can be measured, relevant, and achievable.
