Abstract

Background: The Emergency Unit is one of the first service units in hospitals that provides first aid to save lives and prevent unwanted things happen. Nurses who work in the Emergency Room certainly have different levels of workload that cause fatigue and boredom. The workload received by nurses is closely related to the level of burnout syndrome. Research Objectives: To determine the correlation between workload and burnout syndrome of nurses in the Emergency Room. Research Methods: This research is a quantitative research. The research population was nurses in the Emergency Room in PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong Hospital. The number of samples used were 27 nurses. The statistical test used in this research is Chi Square. Research Results: Nurses with heavy workloads are 78% while nurses with moderate workloads are 11% and nurses with mild workloads are 11%. Nurses who have heavy burnout syndrome are 48%, nurses who have moderate burnout syndrome are 37% and nurses who have mild burnout syndrome are 15%. There is a significant correlation between workload and burnout syndrome. Conclusion: There is a significant correlation between workload and nurses burnout syndrome in the Emergency Room. Recommendation: For further researchers to increase the number of respondents and more variables so that research results can be more general and representative of nurses
