Abstract
Background : Based on the data of WHO there was about 54 % of children mortality were caused by poor nutritional status. In Indonesia, there were 4.5% of the 22 million babies (young chilldren) in Indonesia suffered from malnutrition or poor nutrition, This resulted in more than 80 % of baby mortality. The basic health research data shows the prevelence of malnutrition was 17.9 % and poor malnutrition was 4.9 %. This means that it was very possibe the target in 2014 was 15.0 % of malnutrition and 3.5 % of poor malnutrition can be achieved. The percentage of baby malnutrition (W/A) of Central Java province in 2012 was 4.88%. Some efforts have been made by the government and health officials to improve the baby growth. One of the efforts by giving additional food in accordance with the baby’s age. The food that can be given to improve early growth of baby is by providing additional food (supplementary food) in the form of processed bananas and avocado. Purpose: Providing a midwifery care by giving processed banana and avocado as additional food to increase weight of S, 14 month-olld baby in private midwifery clinic of Midwife Rinna Hendri at Meles, Adimulyo, Kebumen. Method : This scientific paper is a descriptive qualitative with case study approach. The case study was conducted by examining S, a 14 month-old baby who has been given additional food for about two weeks. Result : After giving additional food for 2 weeks, the weight of S, a 14 month-old baby increased – from 8 kg to 9 kg, and the nutritional status of S was becoming better and optimal. Conclusion : The writer can make a menu for S, a 14 month-old baby. It is processed bananas and avocado. The baby’s mother is then able to make the same kind of additional food herself. Finally, the baby’s weight was increasing – from 8 kg to 9 kg.
