Abstract

Background, COVID-19 is an infectious disease caused by the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2). Until now, cases of COVID-19 are still increasing and there are still various treatments for COVID-19, one of the therapies used is antiviral. Objectives, To find out pattern of use and evaluate the appropriateness of the use of antivirus in adult COVID-19 patients at the inpatient installation of dr. Tjitrowardojo hospital Period 2022. Research Methods, Qualitative research in an observational way using a non-experimental descriptive and retrospective design. The drug data obtained was compared with the 2022 edition of the Guidelines for the Management of COVID-19. Research Results, A sample of 100 COVID-19 patients was obtained at the inpatient of dr. Tjitrowardojo Period 2022. The most commonly prescribed antivirus was Favipiravir in 97 patients (97%) and Remdesivir in 3 patients (3%). Evaluation of the use of Favipiravir and Remdesivir based on the Guidelines for the Management of COVID-19 edition IV, namely 100% right indication, right dose, right drug, right method of administration, and 92% right time of administration. In conclusion, based on the results of evaluating the accuracy of using Favipiravir and Remdesivir antivirus in adult COVID-19 patients, namely the right indication (100%), the right drug (100%), the right dose (100%), the right method of administration (100%), and the right time giving (92%). Recommendation, it is necessary to evaluate the use of drugs in COVID-19 patients to provide an overview of therapy and side effects.
