Abstract

Background: Diabetes Mellitus is a health problem that causes complications and further negative effects, forcing patients to undergo treatment for quite a long time. Based on a report from the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) for 2021, Indonesia is ranked 5th with the largest number of DM sufferers in the world. This requires family assistance during difficult times while carrying out treatment. Treatment of DM certainly requires knowledge in order to properly control the glucose levels of family members. Objective: Knowing family knowledge in controlling blood glucose levels in diabetes mellitus patients at the Bener Health Center. Research Methods: This study used descriptive quantitative research using a survey method approach to 83 respondents, sampling using the Proportional Random Sampling technique, the instrument used was a guttman scale questionnaire. Research Results: From 83 respondents, results were obtained based on the gender of the majority of women, based on the age of the majority in the middle adult category (41-40 years), based on the education of the majority of junior high schools. Based on the employment status, the majority are employed, and based on the relationship with the majority of patients as wives. At the level of family knowledge in controlling blood glucose levels in patients with diabetes mellitus at the Bener Health Center in the sufficient category. Conclusion: The results of this study indicate that family knowledge in controlling blood glucose levels in diabetes mellitus patients at the Bener Health Center is in the sufficient category. Recommendation: Future researchers are expected to be taken into consideration and learning materials to be further developed to conduct research on family attitudes and motivation in controlling blood glucose levels in patients with diabetes mellitus.
