Abstract
Background : The elderly generally experience mental, physical, and social decline. One of the decreases in the level of health of the elderly is high blood pressure (hypertension). Hypertension is a person's blood pressure that exceeds 140/90 mmHg which can be caused by lack of physical mactivity. One of the non-pharmacological therapies for hypertension is hypertensive gymnastics. Objective : Knowing the effect of hypertensive gymnastics on lowering blood pressure of the elderly in the Sempor 1 public Health Center area. Methods : This research design uses pre-experiment with one group pretest-posttest design, 81 elderly research samples obtained by purposive sampling technique. The instruments of this study used observation sheets, gymnastics SOPs, and sygnomanometers. Results : The average blood pressure of respondents before hypertension was carried out, namely systolic 195 mmHg and disatolic 130 mmHg After hypertensive gymnastics an average systolic of 192 mmHg and diastolic 127 mmHg was obtained There was an the effect of hypertensive gymnastics on the blood pressure of the elderly as shown by the results of the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test on pretest-posttest Hypertension Gymnastics obtained p-value results of 0.000 < 0.05. Conclusions : There is an effect of hypertensive gymnastics on reducing blood pressure in the elderly in the Sempor 1 public Health Center area. Recommendation: The results of this study are expected to be a reference for non-pharmacological therapies in the treatment of hypertension of the elderly.
