Abstract
Background: The father is an influential figure in the success or failure of breastfeeding, so that the father can play an active role in the success of breastfeeding. Fathers have a huge influence on a mother's decision to breastfeed. Father's involvement in breastfeeding is valuable because it increases breastfeeding success by providing emotional and physical support. Father's support is usually influenced by knowledge regarding the benefits and importance of exclusive breastfeeding. Objective: to find out the knowledge, attitude, and support of the father in breastfeeding. Methods: This research is a quantitative descriptive type with a cross-sectional design. The sample is all married couples who have babies aged 6–12 months at Posyandu in Kebumen Hose with a total of 72 in August 2022 who were selected using the total sampling technique. Results: The characteristics of the respondents were mostly based on the age of the father, mostly in the early adult age category, 68 respondents (94.4%), the education of most of them was high school, 38 respondents (52.8%) and based on the work, most of the respondents were private employees, namely a number of 28 respondents (38.9%). Conclusion: Most of the fathers' knowledge in breastfeeding is in the good category (81.9%) Most of the attitudes are in the good category (87.5%) and most of the fathers' support in breastfeeding is in the good category (61.1%). Recommendation: Posyandu cadres are advised to be more supportive and provide education to fathers so that the father's role in supporting breastfeeding is maximized.
