Abstract

Background : Hypertension in pregnancy, if the blood pressure is more than 140/90 mmHg during half of the pregnancy period. If a pregnant woman has hypertension and urine protein is positive, it is called preeclampsia. Hypertension during pregnancy can cause complications such as placental abruption, hepatic subcapsular hemorrhage, retinal detachment, reduced blood flow to the placenta, fetal growth restriction, prematurity, death in the womb, and shock. The author is interested in applying foot soak therapy with warm water to reduce blood pressure in pregnant women with hypertension. Objective : Provide the midwefes care to the pregnant women with the hypertension by applying foot soak the therapy with warm water. Method : This research used descriptive quantitative approached with 5 respondents. Data was obtained through observation, documentation, and literature study. Results : The result of the application of foot soaking therapy with warm water is a decrease in blood pressure in hypertensive pregnant women. The overall average reduction in systolic was 27 mmHg and diastolic was 16 mmHg. Conclusion : Warm water foot bath therapy can lower blood pressure in pregnant women with hypertension.
