Abstract

Background: Diabetes mellitus is a condition characterized by the pancreas' failure to make insulin, leading in an increase in blood glucose levels and a variety of problems. Diabetes mellitus increased by 9.3% in the population aged 20-78 years, according to IDF data in 2020. Self-acceptance is one element that can alter glucose levels in patients with diabetes mellitus. Purpose: To determine the relationship between the level of self-acceptance and blood glucose levels. Research Methods: A correlational description employing a cross-sectional approach is used in this type of research. The Unconditional Self-Acceptance Questionnaire (USAQ) was utilized in the study, which had 54 participants. The Chi-Square Test was used to analyze data with SPSS-25. Results: The findings revealed that the majority of respondents, 22 (40.7%), had a moderate level of self-acceptance and high blood glucose levels, 32 (59.3%). The chi-square analysis test findings showed that p value = 0.000 and r = 0.0771, indicating that there is a relationship between self-acceptance and blood glucose levels. Conclusion: Self-acceptance is an important aspect for people with diabetes mellitus in dealing with their disease, the ability to understand themselves, accept the real situation, and social barriers. Recommendation: Future research on self-acceptance of blood glucose levels can be undertaken using additional ways to determine the association between the level of self-acceptance and blood glucose levels.
