Abstract

Background: This paper is based on data obtained from various literature sources, which indicate that complementary therapy of red ginger and honey can be an alternative for treating ISPA (Infectious Respiratory Tract Infections) patients. This therapy aims to improve ineffective airway clearance. Objective: The objective of this paper is to describe the nursing care provided for airway clearance in ISPA patients who receive complementary therapy of red ginger and honey in Wonosari Village. Methods: This paper adopts an analytical descriptive approach with a case study design. Data were collected through observations and interviews. Three respondents received complementary therapy of red ginger and honey for five days, administered in the morning and evening. Results: Following the five-day therapy with complementary red ginger and honey, the three respondents exhibited a decrease in breathing frequency, improved breath sounds, and a reduction in sputum production. Conclusion: Complementary therapy of red ginger and honey can alleviate cough symptoms and aid in loosening phlegm in ISPA patients. Recommendations: It is recommended that patients continue independent complementary therapy of red ginger and honey at home to facilitate respiratory tract function and aid in the expulsion of phlegm
