Abstract
Background: The postpartum period encompasses the time from the baby's birth until six weeks after delivery, during which the organs related to the womb recover. Breastfeeding is essential during this time, but some breastfeeding mothers face challenges in maximizing milk production. As a solution to facilitate breast milk production, the consumption of dates has been suggested. Objective: This case study aimed to provide nursing care for primiparous postpartum cesarean section mothers who experienced ineffective breastfeeding by incorporating date (Phoenix dactylifera) consumption at PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong Hospital. Method: This scientific paper employed a descriptive method with a case study approach using the nursing process. Data were collected through interviews, observations, physical examinations, and documentation. Results: The data analysis revealed nursing problems related to Ineffective Breastfeeding due to Inadequate Milk Supply. Implemented interventions included breastfeeding education (I.12393), involving the following aspects: identifying readiness and ability to receive information, determining the purpose or desire for breastfeeding, providing health education materials and media, scheduling agreed-upon health education sessions, encouraging questions, supporting mothers to build confidence in breastfeeding, involving support systems such as husbands, families, health workers, and the community, and providing dates to facilitate breast milk production. Breastfeeding counseling was also offered, along with explanations about the benefits of breastfeeding for both mother and baby. Recommendation:. Consuming 7-8 date fruits per day for 14 days is recommended for primiparous postpartum cesarean section mothers to effectively facilitate breast milk production.
