Abstract

Background: According to WHO, diarrhea is the most important disease indication of death in children under five. Diarrhea is a major problem in the world, including in Indonesia. In Indonesia, diarrhea is a case of potential extraordinary events which is often accompanied by death. This disease can appear due to various causes, one of which is infected with germs and bacteria. Objectives: Describe nursing care for children under five with the main problem of diarrhea and describe the benefits of honey to reduce the frequency of bowel movements and improve stool consistency in children under five. Method: The application design in this case study uses a direct approach (case report), case reports to individuals directly from secondary data using a descriptive method, namely the description of a study describing an actual, accurate and objective problem. Results: The results of the study of 3 patients found that children had excessive bowel movements and liquid consistency. Nursing diagnosis taken diarrhea associated with gastrointestinal irritation. Actions were taken in giving honey to children 3 times a day within 3 days, these actions were proven to cure diarrhea, namely the frequency of diarrhea decreased and the consistency of stool improved. Conclusion: By giving pure honey therapy to children under five with diarrhea can reduce the frequency of bowel movements and improve stool consistency. Recommendation: Paediatrics patients with diarrhea are advised to continue the honey therapy program independently at home until their body is healthy again
