Abstract
Background: Pain is an unpleasant feeling and emotional experience resulting from tissue damage. Mole crab (Emerita sp.) shell contains chitosan compounds which have benefits in treatment, one of which is pain. Purpose: To determine the analgesic activity of chitosan from mole crab shells (Emerita sp.) in male white mice (Mus musculus) which induced by 1% acetic acid. Methode: This study was an experimental study with 35 male white mice as subjects. The test animals were divided into 7 treatment groups, namely negative control, positive control and the chitosan group 50 mg/kg, 100 mg/kg, 150 mg/kg, 200 mg/kg and 250 mg/kg. The pain inducer given was 1% acetic acid. Observations were made by observing the writhing of mice which is a response to pain. The mice's movements were observed and the percentage of pain protection was calculated. The data obtained was then tested using One Way ANOVA and Post Hoc Games-Howell statistics. Result: Chitosan from mole crab shells (Emerita sp.) at doses of 50, 100, 150, 200 and 250 mg/kg BW had an analgesic effect on male white mice with a yield of 56.20%, 58.85%, 79%, respectively. 42%, 86.78% and 88.85% and gave a significant effect (p<0.05) in acetic acid-induced mice. Conclusion: The dose of chitosan from mole crab shell (Emerita sp.) 250 mg/kg has the best analgesic effect with a protection percentage of 88.85% in male white mice and is significant with a p value <0.05. Recommendation: It is necessary to carry out toxicity tests and further research on the analgesic effect of mole crab shell chitosan (Emerita sp.) using other methods and with smaller doses.
