Abstract

Background: Immunization is an attempt to actively boost a person’s immune system against certain infectious diseases. Completing immunization according to the recommended schedule guarantees the preservation of immunity in children. A mother's knowledge is closely related to the fulfillment of child immunization. The higher knowledge of a mother makes it easier for the mother to receive information and make decisions regarding immunizing her baby. Objective: To determine the relationship between a mother's level of knowledge and the compliance of mothers who have infants aged 9–12 months on immunization. Method: This study employed a non-experimental quantitative descriptive design with a cross-sectional approach. The sample size was 69 out of 223 mothers who had toddlers aged 9–12 months at Puskesmas Batur 2 was selected using purposive sampling. The instruments used included questionnaires for primary data and KIA books for secondary data. The data analysis performed bivariate analysis, using the chi-square test. Results: The research was conducted from March to April 2023. The results showed that the majority of toddlers received complete basic immunizations before age one (89.9%). The chi-square test resulted in a p-value of 0.000 (ρ<0.05), indicating that the hypothesis H1 was accepted and H0 was rejected. Therefore, there was a relationship between a mother's knowledge and compliance with basic immunizations. Conclusion: The findings of this study will be expected to serve as a basis for health agencies to improve direct socialization efforts within the community, emphasizing the importance of full compliance
