Abstract

Background: Postoperative following fracture, sleep disturbances problem is commonly emerge. The quality of sleep in fracture patients can be affected by multiple factors such as pain, anxiety, and the treatment environment. The sleep disruptions stem from a combination of factors, such as the residual effects of anaesthesia, heightened pain due to surgery, anxiety over the healing process, apprehension about recovery, and an environment that may not be conducive to rest. Objective: To identify the factors influencing sleep quality among postoperative fracture patients in the inpatient room of PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong Hospital. Method: This study was a cross-sectional correlational approach and recruited 61 patients who selected through purposive sampling. Data collection methods encompassed interviews via questionnaires and observational data. The data analysis incorporated univariate analysis (descriptive analysis) and bivariate analysis utilizing the chi-square test. Results: The study result that pain did not showed a substantial relationship with sleep quality among postoperative fracture patients (p = 0.478). Conversely, anxiety exhibited a significant relationship with sleep quality (p = 0.001). Similarly, the treatment environment demonstrated a meaningful relationship with sleep quality (p = 0.017). Recommendation: Further researchers could delve into an expanded scope, examining potential connections between lifestyle choices, medication use, dietary habits, smoking, and motivational factors with sleep quality among postoperative patients.
