Abstract
Background: Breast cancer is a non-communicable disease characterized by the proliferation of abnormal cells that exhibit excessive growth. Chemotherapy predisposes cancer patients to infections by suppressing the immune system. Furthermore, chemotherapy often gives rise to side effects that detrimentally impact the quality of sleep experienced by patients. Substandard sleep quality has the potential to exacerbate the functional status of these patients. Objective: To identify the factors influencing sleep quality among breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy at PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong Hospital. Results: The employed methodology entailed a descriptive correlation utilizing a cross-sectional design. Non-probability sampling was implemented, and the study included 61 respondents who were breast cancer patients currently undergoing chemotherapy at PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong Hospital. Data analysis was executed through both univariate and bivariate methods, employing Chi-square as the statistical tool. The assessment instruments employed encompassed the DASS questionnaire, FSS, and PSQI. Conclusion: The study revealed a noteworthy correlation between the frequency of chemotherapy cycles, pain levels, and fatigue and the quality of sleep experienced by the patients. Recommendation: It is envisaged that this research could serve as a seminal reference for the inception of subsequent investigations, with the objective of delving into more comprehensive research endeavours concerning the myriad of factors impacting sleep quality among patients undergoing chemotherapy
