Abstract
Background: In Indonesia, pneumonia is the trigger for many child deaths. In 2018, it is predicted that 19,000 children under five will lose their lives due to pneumonia. Every 1 hour there are 71 Indonesian children who contract pneumonia. Inflammation of the bronchi can be seen from the accumulation of secretions, resulting in nursing problems ineffective airway clearance. The effectiveness of airway clearance requires further treatment through non- pharmacology, one of which is chest physiotherapy. Objective: Describe nursing care through the provision of chest physiotherapy to bronchopneumonia children with nursing problems of ineffective airway clearance at RSUD dr. Tjitrowardojo Purworejo. Method: This case study uses a descriptive case study design. The subjects of the case study were 5 children with bronchopneumonia who had problems with ineffective airway clearance. Collecting data with observation techniques, interviews and documentation studies. Results: The results showed that after being given chest physiotherapy, there was a decrease in respiratory frequency from 29 x/m to 27 x/m, no additional breath sounds and a decrease in oxygen saturation from an average of 95.6% to an average of 97.8 %. Conclusion: Giving chest physiotherapy to children with bronchopneumonia can overcome the problem of ineffective airway clearance at dr. Tjitrowardojo Purworejo.
