Abstract
Background: Hypertension is a cardiovascular disease characterized by systolic blood pressure higher than normal, with age being one of the contributing factors. Elderly indi-viduals require family support in managing hypertension. Health education on hypertension management can enhance family knowledge and support, thereby controlling hypertension. Research has shown that in the experimental group, there was a 60% increase in respond-ents with good lifestyle, whereas in the control group, 90% of respondents still maintained a moderate lifestyle. Objective: To provide an overview of nursing care by implementing health education on hypertension management in families with hypertensive elderly individuals. Method: The research employed case study descriptions, presenting the results in a narra-tive format. The study involved three assisted families facing ineffective family health management issues related to hypertension. The meetings were conducted six times. Results: After health education, there was an increase in knowledge and lifestyle behavior among the respondents. The first respondent's knowledge improved from 20% (insuffi-cient) to 70% (adequate), the second respondents from 40% (adequate) to 100% (good), and the third respondents from 20% (insufficient) to 80% (good). The presence or absence of family support influenced these results. Recommendation: Health education proves effective in promoting healthy lifestyle be-haviors and can be implemented within the community.
