Abstract

Background : Sugar disease or Diabetes Mellitus is a disease caused by uncontrolled blood glucose levels in the human body. Diabetes mellitus can be caused by someone who rarely does exercise and an unhealthy lifestyle. Increased thirst, hunger, frequency of urination, weight loss, fatigue and lethargy are signs and symptoms of Diabetes Mellitus. Regular exercise along with proper diet and weight loss is the recommended diabetes management especially for type II diabetes mellitus. One of the exercises that is believed to reduce blood glucose levels is Tai Chi exercise. Objective : Describing nursing care for instability of blood glucose levels in Type II Diabetes Mellitus clients to reduce blood glucose levels with Tai Chi exercises. Methods : This scientific paper used a descriptive approach method with case studies. Data were obtained through interviews and observations with the subjects of three Diabetes Mellitus clients. Results : After doing Tai Chi exercises once a day for 3 days, the blood glucose levels of the three clients decreased. Conclusion : Tai Chi exercise is proven effective to reduce blood glucose levels in type II Diabetes Mellitus clients. Recommendation : Type II Diabetes Mellitus clients are advised to apply Tai Chi exercises regularly.
