Abstract
Background: Breast cancer is a disease that occurs due to excessive growth or uncontrolled development of cells or tissues in the breast. Improving the quality of life of cancer patients during treatment is very important because it can increase their adherence to care and treatment. Objective: To find out the factors associated with the quality of life of breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy at PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong Hospital. Method: This study was a quantitative correlation design with a cross-sectional approach. The study population consisted of all breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy at PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong Hospital. A sample of 77 people was taken using the total sampling technique. Retrieval of data using a questionnaire with the Rank Spearman test. Result: The variables were correlated, namely age (p = 0.000), recent education (p = 0.000), coping mechanisms (p = 0.000), and self-motivation (p = 0.000). Variables that had no correlation were occupation (p = 0.521), duration of chemotherapy (p = 0.515), and cancer stage (p = 0.054). Conclusion: Related factors are age, recent education, coping mechanisms, and self-motivation. Factors that are not related are employment status, duration of chemotherapy, and cancer stage. Recommendation: For further research, intervention research can be conducted to determine external factors that affect quality of life.
