Abstract
Background: The 2015 World Health Organization (WHO) survey reported that the incidence of ILO in the world ranged from 5-15%. WHO data shows that about 5-34% of the total nosocominal infections are surgical wound infections. The incidence rate in government hospitals averages 11%, while in private hospitals it can be more than 30%. Objective: To evaluate the use of prophylactic antibiotics given before surgery in cesarean section patients at PKU Muhammadiyah Sruweng Hospital for the period 2022. Research Methods: Non-experimental observational research using descriptive method. Data collection was done retrospectively. Research Results: Evaluation of the use of prophylactic antibiotics in cesarean section patients, namely ceftriaxone (71.53%), cefazolin (26.39%), and cefotaxime (2.08%). The rationality of prophylactic antibiotics compared with the Indonesian Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the Hospital Formulary is known to be the right drug and the right route of administration (100%), the right dose (86.11%), and the right time of administration (81.25%). Conclusion: The use of prophylactic antibiotics in cesarean section patients are said to be irrational because there is inaccuracy in the dose and time of administration with the guidelines of PKU Muhammadiyah Sruweng Hospital and the Indonesian Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Recommendation: Further prospective research needs to be done on the relationship between prophylactic antibiotic prescribing patterns and the incidence of infection after surgery.
