Abstract
Background: Cesarean delivery is an artificial delivery by making an incision in the uterine wall through the abdominal wall with a fetal weight above 500 grams. Data from the World Health Organization (WHO), Surgical Wound Infections (ILO) occur in 2-5% of the 27 million patients who are operated on each year and constitute 25% of all nosocomial infections. The increasing health financing for caesarean operations in hospitals is related to direct medical costs. Objective: Knowing the description and effectiveness of the use of prophylactic antibiotics and direct medical costs in cesarean section patients at the Prembun General Hospital in 2022/2023. Methods: The study was conducted non-experimentally (observational), using descriptive methods and data obtained from medical records retrospectively. The data used in this research sample were 100 patients with total sampling data collection method. Results: The suitability of the use of prophylactic antibiotics was 48% for the right antibiotics, 91% for the right time of administration, 100% for the right way of giving and 95% for the right dose. The average direct medical costs for general care are IDR 4,791,436, BPJS class 1 is IDR 6,191,159, BPJS class 11 is IDR 5,527,073, and BPJS class 111 is IDR 4,618,464. Conclusion: Based on the evaluation results of the use of prophylactic antibiotics in cesarean section patients, namely the right type of antibiotic 48%, the right time of administration 91%, the right way of giving 100% and the right dose 95%. Recommendation: For future researchers, it is hoped that they can conduct research on the effectiveness of therapy by linking clinical outcomes in cesarean section patients.
