Abstract

Background: Chronic kidney failure is a condition in which kidney function is impaired in regulating the balance between fluids and electrolytes caused by a buildup of substances that the kidneys cannot remove from the body. Chronic kidney disease patients are susceptible to several infections, because the azotemia state reduces immunity with reduced monocytes, reduced B lymphocytes and phagocytosis. Evaluation of the rationality of the use of antibiotics is carried out to assess the suitability of drug use according to the criteria for drug use. Research Objective; the study was to determine the profile of antibiotic use and rationality as well as the relationship between the profile of antibiotic use and rationality in inpatients with chronic kidney failure at dr. Tjitrowardojo Hospital, Purworejo in 2022. Research Method: descriptive analysis research, with retrospective data collection using purposive sampling method. The sample in this study was the medical records of chronic kidney failure patients in inpatient installations for the period of January-December 2022 with a total of 102 patients. Research Result: the results showed that the profile of the most widely used antibiotics in the inpatient installation of dr. Tjitrowardojo Hospital in 2022, namely the Cephalosporin group as much as 66.19%. Evaluation of the rationality of the use of antibiotics was 96.40%, and there was no relationship between the profile of the use of antibiotics and the rationality obtained a significant p value of 0.521. Conclusion: the evaluation of the rationality of using antibiotics in chronic kidney failure patients hospitalized in dr. Tjitrowardojo Hospital Purworejo in 2022 was 96.40% with no relationship between profiles of antibiotic use and rationality. Recommendation: future researchers can evaluate the rationality of using antibiotics in patients with chronic kidney failure by collecting data prospectively
