Abstract
Background: Excessive use of antibiotics will cause resistance, so the use of antibiotics in surgical patients needs to be evaluated. The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends the implementation of quantitative evaluation of antibiotic use using the ATC/DDD and DU 90% method as an Antimicrobial Resistance Control Program (PPRA) in surgical patients at dr. Tjitrowardojo Purworejo Hospital. Research Objective: Knowing the use of antibiotics in surgical patients at dr.Tjitrowardojo Purworejo hospital with the ATC / DD and DU 90% method in period of July-December 2022. Research Methods: This type of research is non-experimental with retrospective data collection. Antibiotic use data were analyzed using the ATC/DDD and DU 90% method. The sampling method used total sampling using all inclusion data at Dr. Tjitrowardojo Purworejo Hospital. Results: The highest quantitative evaluation value of DDD/100 patient-days was Ceftriaxone inj 1 g with a total of 32.12 DDD/100 patient-days and the lowest was Meropenem inj 1 g as much as 1.44 DDD/100 patient-days. The total antibiotics used amounted to 63.95 DDD/100 patient-days. The use of antibiotics that fall into the 90% DU segment are Ceftriaxone inj 1 g (50.23%), Cefixime tab 200 mg (24.99%), and Cefotaxime inj 1 g (11.76%). While antibiotics that fall into the 10% segment are Cefadroxil tab 500 mg (10.77%), and Meropenem inj 1 g (2.25%). Conclusion: The total antibiotics used amounted to 63.95 DDD/100 patient-days. These results can be interpreted that every 100 hospitalized patients there are 64 patients receiving antibiotic therapy according to the World Health Organization (WHO) standard DDD value. Recommendation: Further research needs to be done using qualitative methods or the Gyssens method.
