Abstract

Background: Hypertension is characterized by an increase in systolic and diastolic blood pressure above normal limits and is a leading cause of death worldwide. Patients with hypertension often experience acute headaches. Alternative nasal breathing techniques can influence blood pressure and reduce pain levels, as there is a significant relationship between nasal circulation and hypertension. Objective: This study aims to describe nursing care by applying the non-pharmacological therapy of one nostril relaxation technique to reduce pain levels in patients with hypertension. Method: This scientific paper used a descriptive method, utilizing a case study approach and the nursing process. Data collection and compilation were include respondent interviews, client approach, observation, physical examination, documentation, and literature study. Results: After applying the nursing process to 3 hypertensive patients who complained of pain for 3 days, using the one nostril relaxation therapy, the results demonstrated a decrease in pain levels from moderate to mild. Conclusion: The one nostril relaxation therapy effectively reduces pain levels in hypertensive patients experiencing mild to moderate pain. Recommendation: The one nostril relaxation therapy can be considered as a non-pharmacological therapeutic intervention to alleviate pain in hypertensive patients with mild to moderate pain complaints.
