Abstract
Background: Asthma is characterized by chronic inflammation of the airways, leading to their narrowing and causing recurring symptoms such as wheezing, shortness of breath, and chest tightness. Progressive Muscle Relaxation (PMR) therapy is a technique aimed at reducing muscle tension associated with anxiety. Purpose: The aim of this study was to explore nursing care involving the implementation of Progressive Muscle Relaxation therapy to alleviate anxiety in individuals with asthma, specifically in Kalibeji Village, Sempor District. Method: This scientific paper employed an analytical descriptive approach with a case study design. Data collection methods included literature review, interviews, and observations. Results: Following the administration of Progressive Muscle Relaxation therapy, a noticeable reduction in anxiety levels was observed among the participants. The average anxiety score decreased, indicating the effectiveness of the therapy. Conclusion The application of Progressive Muscle Relaxation therapy has shown promise in reducing anxiety levels among asthma patients in Kalibeji Village, Sempor District. Recommendation: Progressive Muscle Relaxation therapy should be considered as a valuable nursing intervention for managing anxiety in asthma patients. Further research could explore its broader implementation and effects.
