Abstract

Background: Type 2 diabetes mellitus is caused by a chronic increase in blood glucose levels due to disturbances in carbohydrate, fat and protein metabolism due to a deficiency of the hormone insulin. Insulin therapy in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus is used to reduce blood sugar levels and HbA1C according to the desired target, and can reduce microvascular complications. Research objective: To know the profile of insulin analog treatment and to know the relationship between clinical outcomes of type 2 DM outpatients with the use of insulin analog in RSUD Prembun. Research Methods: This study was a retrospective observational study. The sample was taken as many as 100 patients with the slovin formula. Data were taken from medical records in IFRS using data forms and processed and analyzed with Excel and SPSS version 23. The statistical method used in this study is the chisquare test. Result: The overall treatment profile of insulin analogs used was the most widely used type of long acting basal insulin (53,6%). The use of insulin combination between long acting and rapid acting insulin was most common (81.8%). Insulin analog with the Novorapid Flexpen brand trend was most widely used (36,9%). The results of clinical outcomes GDS and GDP with chi-square test showed no significant relationship in the use of analog insulin with a p-value of 0,274 for GDS and p-value 0,636 for GDP. Conclusion: The most commonly used insulin is a combination of long acting and rapid acting insulin and there is no significant association of insulin analog with GDS and GDP. Recommendation: It is necessary in future studies to examine the clinical outcome of GDPP and HbA1C as well.
