Abstract
Background: Hypertension or high blood pressure is defined as a continuous increase in blood pressure so that it exceeds normal limits. The number of people with hypertension continues to increase every year, it is estimated that by 2025 there will be 1.5 billion people suffering from hypertension, and it is estimated that every year 10.44 million people will die from hypertension and its complications. Continuously high blood pressure causes the heart to work extra hard, eventually this condition results in damage to the blood vessels of the heart, kidneys, brain and eyes. Nostril breathing therapy is breathing using both nostrils alternately by inhaling through the right nostril and exhaling through the left nostril and vice versa for 10-20 minutes. Nostril Breathing helps stimulate the main nerves in the parasympathetic and nervous system, thus helping to slow the heart rate, lower blood pressure, and calm the body and mind. Objective: This study aims to describe the effect of Nostril Breathing therapy on blood pressure in hypertensive patients Methods: This type of research design is a case study research. The number of samples in this study were 5 people. Results: Analysis by looking at the results of observations before and after nostril breathing therapy for 10-20 minutes every day for 5 days there was a decrease in blood pressure reduction in hypertensive patients. The results of the analysis showed a decrease in blood pressure after the intervention. Recommendation: Nostril breathing therapy can reduce blood pressure in hypertensive patients.
