Abstract
Background: urinary tract infection (UTI) is the second most common infection after respiratory infection. UTI if not treated properly can cause hypertension, proteinuria, recurrent UTI, chronic kidney failure and dialysis and result in death. UTI therapy is using antibiotics, their inappropriate use can cause antibiotic resistance. Therefore it is necessary to evaluate the use of antibiotics using the ATC/DDD method and 90% DU at PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong Hospital, the reason for choosing this hospital is because it has a urology specialist who is related to UTI. The aim of the study: was to evaluate the use of antibiotics in UTI patients at PKU Muhammaadiyah Gombong Hospital in using the ATC/DDD and 90% DU Methods. Research Methods: an observational study with a cross-sectional design by taking the medical records of UTI patients in 2020-2022. Research results: there were 141 UTI patients during 2020-2022. The antibiotics used were ceftriaxone, levofloxacin, cefotaxime, ciprofloxacin, cefixim and ampicillin. The total value of DDD/100 patient-days for all antibiotics used from 2020-2022 is 71.8 DDD/100 patient-days, 73.3 DDD/100 patient-days, 73.1 DDD/100 patient-days, 81.7 DDD/100 patient-days, 77.8 DDD/100 patient-days and 57.5 DDD/100 patient-days. Antibiotics included in the 90% DU segment in January 2020-June 2022 are ceftiaxone, levofloxacin and ciprofloxacin. Whereas in July-December 2022 it will be ceftriaxone, cefotaxime and ciprofloxacin. In conclusion, in the July-December 2021 period the total use of antibiotics was 81.7 DDD/100 patient-days which was the highest use during 2020-2022, this can mean that in that period an average of 100 days of hospitalization as many as 81.7% of patients received a dose antibiotic daily according to WHO standard DDD value. Recommendation: qualitative research should be carried out using the gyssens method.
