Abstract
Background: Diabetes Mellitus is a metabolic disease characterized by increasingof blood glucose level called hyperglycemia due to the defect of insulin secretion orthe impairment of insulin function, or both. Uncontrolled diabetes with high glucose level tend to have high cholesterol level. Objective: To determine correlation between diet and cholesterol level of diabetic patients in Kemranjen 1 Community Health Center of Banyumas. Methods: This study used a correlational analytical method with cross sectional approach. Samples were 31 people taken by purposive sampling technique. Data were analyzed using descriptive analysis and correlation using Kendal tautest. Results: This study showed that the majority of respondents (80.6%) in Kemranjen I Community Health Centerhad enough diet category. Some respondents (38.7%) in Kemranjen I community health center had total cholesterol levels at the borderline category (200-239mg/dL). There was correlation between diet and cholesterol level of diabetic patients in Kemranjen 1 Community Health Center of Banyumas indicated by p value = 0.000 (<0.05).
