Abstract

Background: Pain isunpleasant emotional and sensory feelings associated with marked tissue damage.Tamarind leaves (Tamarindus indica L) have benefits in medicine to help cure various diseases. Purpose: This study aims to determine the analgesic activity of aquades extract of tamarind leaves (Tamarindus indica L) so that it can be used as an alternative treatment of pain in male white mice (Mus musculus) swiss strain induced with acetic acid. Method: This study used research subjects in the form of 30 white mice. The test animals were divided into 6 treatment groups, namely negative controls were given CMC-Na, positive controls were given mefenamic acid, the distilled water extract group dosed at 50 mg/Kg BW, 100 mg/Kg BW, 200 mg/Kg BW and 300 mg/Kg BW . The pain inducer given was 1% acetic acid. Observations were made by observing the writhing of rats to calculate the % pain protection. The data that has been obtained is then tested with One Way ANOVA and Post Hoc Games Howel statistical tests. Result: Research shows aquades extract of tamarind leaves (Tamarindus indica L) with doses of 50, 100, 200 and 300 mg/Kg BW has an analgesic effect on male white mice with successive percent protection results of 58.05%, 66.32%, 89.08%, 91.04% and gave a significant effect (p<0.05) in acetic acid-induced rats. Conclusion: Extract dosage tamarind leaf aquades (Tamarindus indica L) with dosage 300 mg/Kg BW had the best analgesic effect on male white mice and was stated to be significant with a p<0.05. Suggestion: It is necessary to carry out toxicity tests and conduct research more about the analgesic effect of tamarind leaves (Tamarindus indica L) using different methods and with different solvents.
